James Logsdon
PEORIA - James Logsdon, age 92, passed away on April 13, 2021, at Clare Oaks in Bartlett, IL. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, M. Therese (Cotter); and 6 children, Sue (James) Giacobazzi of Bloomingdale, IL, Pat Logsdon of Peoria, IL, Jay (Laura) Logsdon of Wildwood, MO, Greg (Lori) Logsdon of Simi Valley, CA, Brad (Trish) Logsdon of Thousand Oaks, CA, Peggy Logsdon (John March) of St. Charles, IL; 9 grandchildren, Kara, Krista, Joe, Sara, Kelsey, Ryan, Justin, Brooke, and Jackson. Jim was preceded in death by his grandson, Jayson Logsdon.
Jim was born on March 12, 1929, in Ridgeway, in southern Illinois. His parents were Jack (James Jackson Logsdon III) and Madelyn (Duffy) Logsdon. He attended St. Cecilia Grade School in Peoria and graduated from Spalding High School. There, he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He graduated in 1947.
Jim went to Bradley for one year, then entered the Pattern Makers Program in 1948. In January of 1951, he was called to the Korean War. He became a Corporal and worked as an Airplane and Helicopter Mechanic. After two full years in the Army, Jim returned to Caterpillar and was employed there for 38 years. Jim and Therese relocated to Tucson, AZ, during their retirement years where they were both avid golfers. They returned to Peoria in 2004 to be closer to family.
Mass will be at 10:45 AM Friday, April 16, 2021 at St. Isidore Catholic Church (427 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale, IL). Due to Covid restrictions, masks are required.
