Norma Haare Obituary

CHILLICOTHE - Norma J. Haare, 85, of Chillicothe died on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Norma was born on Oct. 12, 1929, in Jacksonville, the daughter of J. Henry and Beatrice (Ehlert) Kuhlmann. She was married to Willis L. Haare on Oct. 15, 1950, in Beardstown.

First and foremost, Norma loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her determination allowed her to graduate as valedictorian of her high school class, while fighting polio. She then attended Culver Stockton College. She and Willis were high school sweethearts and were blessed with 64 years of marriage.

Norma was a homemaker who was involved in her daughters' school activities. She continued to play a special role in her grandchildren's lives.

Norma was a member of the Chillicothe Bible Church in Chillicothe, where she was active in her church with Bible studies, circle groups and missions.

Norma is survived by her husband, Willis; and daughters, Janet E. Perez of Chillicothe, Kathleen J. McCorkle of Chillicothe and Sharon L. (Bill) McCarthy of Raleigh, N.C. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her brother, Harold Kuhlmann.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol A. Miles; her parents; and her sister, Carolyn Schmidt.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at Chillicothe Bible Church. The Rev. Joe Horn will officiate. Visitation will also be at the Chillicothe Bible Church from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Chillicothe City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in her name to Chillicothe Bible Church.
