PEORIA - Dr. Richard F. Weinstein, 80, of Peoria died at 6:05 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at the Toulon Healthcare Center in Toulon.
He was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Peoria to Ben J. and Helen Kahn Weinstein. He married Donna M. Gallick on Sept. 5, 1959, in Evanston, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Stacy (and Jeff) Weiss of Pasadena, Calif., Michael (and Sue) Weinstein of Tampa, Fla., and Keith (and Angela Bontemps) of Peoria; and his grandson, Thomas Weinstein of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
He was a United States Navy veteran, serving as a corpsman with the Marines in Korea.
Richard was an ophthalmologist in Peoria.
He was a member of the American Medical Association, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, a member of the Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland and a member of the Health and Human Services Committee. He also was a member of the Orpheus Singing Group in Peoria, a member of Willow Knolls Country Club, the Creve Coeur Club, the Illinois Valley Yacht and Canoe Club and the Gulf Harbour Golf Club (Fort Myers, Fla.) and a member of Congregation Anshai Emeth in Peoria.
He loved boating, singing and golfing.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family burial of ashes, with military honors, will be in Springdale Cemetery at a later date.

Donna and family,
I was so saddened to hear of Dick's death. I fondly remember you, Donna, Dick , and I beginning our life adventures at Bradley U. and continuing throughout Chicago and then back in Peoria.
You'll both be in my thoughts forever.
