George Lewis Samons, 86, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 3:15 a.m., Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at his home.
He was born on September 13, 1939, in Weeksbury, Kentucky, to Harmon Brownlow and Dora (Gillispie) Sammons.
George graduated from Wheelwright High School in Kentucky. On November 24, 1960, he married Karon Sue Felts in Wabash. George worked and retired from General Tire in Wabash. He was a member of Wabash Moose Lodge and Wabash V.F.W. Post 286. George enjoyed sports, playing for several travel softball teams, and reading his sports magazines. George liked playing cards, especially poker, euchre, and rook. He appreciated a good chewing tobacco and drinking Budweiser. George took great pride in mowing and caring for his property, and loved hosting picnics at his house.
He is survived by his wife, Karon Sue Samons of Wabash; five children, David A. (Vivian) Samons of Florida, Lauri A. (Robert "Bud") Miller of Huntington, Indiana, Robert L. (Cheryl) Samons of Seneca, South Carolina, John D. (Robin) Samons of Marion, Indiana, and George B. (Leslie) Samons of Wabash; special niece, Jacquelyn Correll-Stelly; 13 grandchildren, Kelli (Derek) Holley, Adam Samons, Matthew Barker, Daniel Barker, Jessica (Jedediah) Huscher, Kaitlyn Samons, Jarrod Samons, Cruz (Brittnee) Samons, Austin (Sydney) Samons, Justin Samons, Reece Samons, Kaiden Samons, and Paisley Samons; 23 great grandchildren, and siblings, Douglas (Nadine) Sammons, Mary Ann Adkins, and Carolyn Sue Sanders. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, David Sammons, Johnny Samons, and four sisters, Opal Mollette, Pauline Fraley, Ruby Bayliss, and Leona Campbell.
There will be a private celebration of George's life at a later date. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.
Preferred memorial is Bash Bags, formerly Blessings in a Backpack.

I want say how sorry I am to hear that George has passed on! He was always such a sweet man to me. We didn't see I I on our favorite drivers in NASCAR. But that's okay we would laugh about it. George was a very good man. And he will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Love to all Cheryl
