Stephan Douglas Gross, 67, of Peru, Indiana passed away peacefully on Nov. 13, 2021 surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 7, 1954 in Frankfort, Indiana the son of, late, Robert and Ellen Gross (Thomas).
On June 22, 1974 he married Eileen Pottenger, who survives.
He graduated from Peru High School on May 21, 1972. He worked for the railroad from 1974 until his retirement in 2016. He was a member of the Peru Grace Brethren Church.
In his free time he loved to watch sports of all types with some of his favorites including the Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He especially looked forward to the Indy 500. Among many activities he enjoyed fishing, reading and learning, as well as spending time with his family and friends, whether it was going out to grab a bite to eat or shopping. He enjoyed playing cards, games and was always laughing with whoever he was with. He was also a huge animal lover.
He is survived by his spouse Eileen Gross, his children Nichole (Chad) Gardner, Angela Gross, Joseph (Rhonda) Gross, and Stephanie Gross and grandchildren Kaitlin Gardner, Jacob Gardner, Jaylin Morris, Joshua Hall, and Josiah Gross. Other survivors include sisters Kathy (Steve) Leeper, Joni (David) Bruns, Mariellen (Rob) Pullen and brother David (Mariellen) Gross and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2-4pm on Tuesday Nov. 23, 2021 at Peru Grace Brethren Church, located at 430 South Broadway Peru, Indiana. Funeral service will follow at 4pm with Pastor Dave Jodry officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Miami County Animal Shelter.
