Alfred Flowers Obituary

Alfred Glenn Flowers, 75, of Stroudsburg, left this world peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 14.

He was the husband of Roberta C. Fairclough Flowers, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage in February.

Born on Feb. 13, 1932, in Tannersville, he was a son of the late Alfred Robert Flowers and Bernita Werkheiser Flowers Edinger and was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army from Sept. 5, 1950 to Oct. 26, 1951.

He was employed by McGraw Edison for more than 25 years and the Pocono Record for five years.
He was a lifetime member of the Society of the 28th Division, the Eagles Aerie 1106 and the American Legion.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Bernita McConnell and her husband, Jim, of Wedgefield, S.C., Barry Flowers and his wife, Debbie, of East Stroudsburg, Barbara Schoebel and her husband, Frank, of Tannersville, Bruce Flowers of Stroudsburg and Brenda Murphy of Tannersville; 12 grandchildren: David Possinger, Angela Welter, Michelle Demure, Joseph McConnell, Jennifer Flowers, Kelli Cramer, Leslie Moser, Kristen Pensyl, Ryan Ackerman, Brian Flowers, Jason Flowers and Rebecca Schoebel; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Flowers; and a step-sister, Shirley Edinger.

There will be a viewing at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 16, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg, PA 18360 with the Rev. William Sibley officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Tannersville Union Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial remembrances be made to the American Heart Association, 71 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
