Daniel Paul Abeloff

Daniel (Danny) Paul Abeloff died in Carlsbad, California on January 31, 2021 at the age of 77 due to sudden respiratory failure.
He was born in East Stroudsburg, to parents, Lester G. and Clementine (Kupiszewski) Abeloff on March 1, 1943. Danny was raised in the Jewish tradition becoming Bar Mitzvahed at Temple Israel in East Stroudsburg. He was educated in the East Stroudsburg school system and graduated from East Stroudsburg High School in 1961. Upon graduation he attended Notre Dame University, Miami University and East Stroudsburg University where he obtained his BS and MS teaching degrees in English and Social Studies. Upon graduation from college he worked as an English teacher in the Bethlehem School District. Later on he taught at Northampton Community College before retiring to Carlsbad, California where he spent the remaining years of his life.
Danny was an avid art collector and lover of dogs throughout his life. He loved nature, the outdoors but most importantly he loved the yellow roses in his garden. He also enjoyed traveling especially enjoying a special trip to Israel and Jerusalem.
He was cared for in the last years of his life by Christie Landeros who was a loving and dedicated caregiver for eight years until his final day. Christie's daughter, Samantha, also helped care for Danny on a 24/7 basis for the last three years of his life. The family and friends greatly appreciate Christie's and Samantha's unwavering support to Danny during the most difficult time at the end of his life. He nicknamed them Momma Bear and Baby Bear for how dearly they cared for him.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his uncles, Murray and Maynard Abeloff and his cousin, Edwin Abeloff.
Danny is survived by his two beloved dogs whom he considered his children, Maddy and Luna Abeloff; cousins, Emily Abeloff Adler, Amy Abeloff, Andy Abeloff, David Adler, Robert Adler, Candace Adler, Jonathan Adler, Robert Kupiszewski, David Kupiszewski, Joseph Zateeny, Diane Rushing, James Devaney, Thomas Devaney, Michael Ditmore, Ashley Ditmore and Lisa Adams; and his God Daughter, Jasmine Zateeny of Philadelphia.
Danny will be buried in Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg at a private ceremony at the convenience of family and friends with Rabbi Baruch Melman officiating.
