Darrell Sturtz

Darrell L. Sturtz, 73, of Reeders, died Thursday morning, Feb. 8, at the VNA Hospice House at University Ridge, East Stroudsburg.

Born on Nov. 23, 1933, in Ogden, Iowa, he was the son of the late Clarence and Florence Davis Sturtz and lived in Monroe County for the past three months.

He was a hospital administrator for a nursing home facility in Passaic County, N.J., until retirement.

Darrell served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Alaska.

He was a volunteer fireman for District 6 in Parsippany, N.J.

He was the beloved husband of Thelma L. Moland Sturtz, of Reeders; a wonderful father to Joanne Jodi Sturtz Hurd, of Reeders, Gary Crosby, of Maryville, Tenn., and Kevin Crosby, of Longwood, Fla., and their families: Andrew, Melissa, Nicole and Jared Hurd and Kyle Mohr, of Reeders, Bryan and Sean Darrell Crosby, of Tennessee, and Karen, Kelly, Kristy, Kory and Connor Crosby, of Florida. Also surviving are his sister-in-law, Lillian Moland; two sisters, Mary Phipps of California and Delores of Iowa; a brother, Dean, of Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois.

There will be a viewing at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg. Following the service, cremation will take place at the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.
