Rachel Keller Obituary

Rachel L. Keller, 89, of Kresgeville, died on Saturday, April 21, in the Weatherwood Nursing Home in Weatherly. She was the wife of the late Allen F. Keller.

Born in Preachers Camp, she was a daughter of the late Elmer E. and Henrietta Harpel Strohl. A graduate of Lehighton High School, she was a sewing machine operator at Sand Ridge Blouse Company in Kunkletown for 20 years, retiring in 1982.

She was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Trachsville. She was also a member of the Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, the Towamensing Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and the Franklin Township Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was a life member of the Indian Mountain Rod & Gun Club in Kresgeville and the Kunkletown Rod & Gun Club, the P.O. of A and the Young at Heart Senior Citizens in Kresgeville.

She is survived by four daughters, Mae Skerce of Bensenville, Ill., Jane Keller of Kresgeville, and Fay Hunsicker and Gail Christman, both of Lehighton; a son, Allen F. Keller Jr. of Gilbert; two sisters, Magina Hittner and Viola Bruch, both of Kunkletown; a brother, Edwin Strohl of Kunkletown; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, George Strohl; and by sisters, Amelia Hittner and Elsie Hasik.

A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Wednesday, April 25, at the William H. Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209, Brodheadsville, PA 18322. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Leon Zinkler officiating. Burial will be held in Trachsville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Palmerton, PA 18071.
