Robert Staples Obituary

Robert H. "Rabbit" Staples, 61, of Upper Mount Bethel Township, died Friday, Sept. 3, as a result of a one car accident in Sullivan County. He was the husband of Astrid (Skoie) Staples. They were married Feb. 11, 2000.

Born on April 5, 1943, in Bangor, he was the son of the late Catherine (East) Staples.

Before retiring in 2002, he was employed as a conductor and brakeman at Norfolk Southern Corp. Railroad. He also worked part-time for East Penn Trucking.

He was a member of Roseto Rod and Gun Club, Bangor; Jacksonian Club; Dyle Bray VFW, Bangor; and the Pocono Outdoor Shooting Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Brian of Pen Argyl and Steven of Washington state; and one daughter, Christina of Phillipsburg, N.J. He was preceded in death by one brother, Albert "Tex" Staples.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Reed/Gaffney Funeral Home, 4 Lillian Lane, Village of Johnsonville, Bangor. Interment will be in North Bangor Cemetery.

Calling hours will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Outreach Center, 121 Broadway, Bangor, PA 18013.
