To the Jones family: Grace, Peace, and comfort be unto you from our Lord Jesus Christ. I have nothing but good words for my high school alum, Poncie. He was nice in school, became a loving, dedicated family man (many Facebook photos), and Pastor. He also was a very dapper individual! Hearing of his death hurt me terribly, and still does. I continue to pray for you and my fellow classmates. He will definitely be missed.

Condolences to the family. In 2002, 22 years ago Pastor Chuck did my son Lil Rick Baskin ulogy in Flint, Michigan. I will never forget. There were 25 people that accepted Christ, at a funeral mind you. I had never experienced that before. I was able to see him again 5 years ago at my ex-husband Rick Baskin Sr. Funeral in Flint, Michigan. He remembered me. I still have a recording of my son's ulogy. I, too, knew him as "Ponce". I am also reminded of our Washington Park/Steward House days. At our first Emerson reunion for all classes, he was one of the first to welcome and greet me as I had gone in to the USAF in 1973 and had not enteracted with a lot with other alumni since then. His humble approach and friendly demeanor made me feel so, so, welcome. He was one of Emerson's finest!!!

To the entire Jones Family, I count it a blessing to have been acquainted with "Poncie" as we affectionately called him. He had a light that shined whenever you saw him. Bonnie my heart goes out to you, his spouse, children and grandchildren. He was an inspiration to many with his uplifting and encouraging God centered messages that aimed at developing the people of God. May you find comfort and peace in knowing that to be absent from this body, is to be present with the Lord. What a beautiful, and peaceful place to be! He had a life well lived...We all should hope to hear Jesus say, "Well done my good and faithful servant." Rest well my brother in Christ, and fellow Emersonian, we will miss you tremendously!
