Imogene Edwards Obituary
A dedicated educator and community activist made her transition Saturday, May 27, 2023.
Imogene graduated from Gary Roosevelt High School in 1949. She received her BA in Education from Indiana University and her Masters in Education, from Roosevelt University.
She was a member of St. Timothy's Community Church, a Golden Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the Drifters, Inc, the NAACP, and many other civic and social organizations.
She is remembered by her children Joi Edwards Brown, and E. Christopher Edwards, her beloved grandchildren and the many friends and relatives whose lives she touched.
All services will be held at St. Timothy's Community Church, Saturday, June 17, 2023
Delta Sigma Theta's Omega Omega service will be at 10:30 a.m. and the Memorial Celebration at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made in her honor to the Gary Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., memo line stating Imogene Edwards Scholarship fund. Please mail to, Chris Edwards P.O. Box 6024 Douglasville, GA 30154.

Imogene & Elmer "Durango" , were 2 of my favorite people and role models!
My wife of 63 years and I have been proud to emulate their love and unity throughout our marriage.
Imogene will now join Elmer in eternity in heaven and may they rest in peace and love in a better place!

Heaven has gained another beautiful angel! Mrs. Edwards was such a sweet soul, phenomenal educator, and one of my Grandmother´s dearest lifelong friends. She loved her children deeply and was so proud to share their accomplishments with her friends. Joi & Chris, you are blessed with a rich legacy and a lifetime of treasured memories.
