John Murawski Obituary

JOHN JOSEPH MURAWSKI Gary, Indiana Age 65, passed away at home on Thursday, October 19, 2006. He attended St. Meinrad's Seminary until 1967 and then entered the U.S. Army where he served as a Captain in Korea and Vietnam, his last tour in Okinawa, Japan. John was employed at St. Catherine's Hospital as a purchasing manager. He was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Church and was formerly active with the Andrean Athletic Club. He coached Little League and softball in Aetna. John was instrumental in organizing Ron Kittle Night during Ron's Rookie year with the Chicago White Sox. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Susan Murawski. John is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lupe of Gary; children, Maureen Swinford of Houston, TX, Jeanette Munoz of Las Vegas, John J. (Kerri) Murawski II of Clarksville, TN and 1st Lt. Matthew Murawski, U.S.M.C. of Carlsbad, CA; 7 grandchildren, Nico, Nina and Natalie Munoz and John III, Rebecca, Dakota and Alexandra Murawski; brothers, Steve (Pat) Murawski of Granger, IN, Phillip (Mary) Murawski of Altamonte Springs, FL, Robert (Linda) Murawski of Vincennes, IN; sisters, Terri (John) Brdar of Naperville, IL, JoAnna (Chris) Greasel of Carmel, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2006 at St. Mary of the Lake Church, 6060 Miller Avenue, Gary, IN for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Joseph Pawlowski officiating. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Portage. Friends are invited to meet with the family at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. A vigil service will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. John will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (time of service). Contributions may be make to the family. Please call (219) 942-1117.

John was my boss while employed at St. Mary's. He was and will always be the best boss I have ever had. He was of sorts my mentor. May he rest and peace and watch over us as we heal from his loss. My thoughts and prayers are with his family..God bless you John. I have never forgotten you..
