Phyllis Mercer Obituary

Mercer, Phyllis M. Age 85, of Portage, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014. Phyllis was born to the late Frederick and Velma (nee Townsley) Longstreth on June 6, 1929 in Cranston, Iowa. She married Howard J. Mercer on January 30, 1949 in Muscatine, Iowa. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Phyllis is survived by her two daughters, Lee Anne Mercer of Austin, TX and Susan Anderson of Ogden Dunes; two grandsons, Dean and Eric Anderson, and other loving family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard J. Mercer; brother, Neale Longstreth and son-in-law, David Anderson. A memorial service for Phyllis will be celebrated on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage IN. Burial will be at Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Illinois at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Alzheimer's Association, VNA Hospice or American Cancer Society. Memorial visitation will be Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, Portage.
