Frances Vissers Obituary

Frances Vissers, 96, Kaukauna, formerly of Menasha, died with her family by her side Saturday, March 31, 2012 at St. Paul Elder Services, Kaukauna, WI. She was born October 18, 1915, in Kaukauna to John and Hattie (Verbeten) Vanevenhoven - the 7th of 13 children. Frances married Wilbert A. "Bill" Vissers June 13, 1939 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna. Bill preceded her in death December 10, 1999.

A life well lived, Frances experienced the joy of being loved by a large family, many friends and neighbors. Frances was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Menasha, where she was a member of the Rosary Society and avid attendee at the Mother of Perpetual Help devotions. She was an active member of the Neenah-Menasha Elks Ladies and the Neenah-Menasha Homemakers. Frances loved dancing. Bill and she were members of the Romeo and Calicos Square Dancing Club. She was an excellent card player, cook, baker and candy maker, and hostess. She was the happiest when the house was full of family and friends enjoying life.

Frances is survived by her 4 children: Janice (James) Schueppert, St. Paul, MN; Shirley (David) Mottard, Cedarburg, WI; Robert (Carol) Vissers, St. Paul, MN; Jill (Clark) Caflisch, Oshkosh, WI; 6 grandchildren: Dr. Michael (Mary) Schueppert; Steven (Laurie) Schueppert; Jennifer (Craig) Lau; Krista (Daniel) Teigen; Patrick Caflisch; Kathryn "Kate" Caflisch; 13 great grandchildren: Megan, Mary Claire, Ann, Madeline; Emily, twins Abigail and Elizabeth, Julie Gail, Charles W., Mary Grace Schueppert; Taylor and Camryn Lau; Noah Teigen; a sister, Evelyn Hermes; sisters-in-law: Alma Vanevenhoven, Marian Van Asten and Geraldine Pennings; brothers-in-law: Elmer Vissers and Sylvester Vissers; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Frances was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters: Angeline (Willard) Vanden Heuvel; Ervin (Martha) Vanevenhoven; Henry (Harriet) Vanevenhoven; Arthur (Nellie) Vanevenhoven; Lillian (Martin) Thyssen; Howard Vanevenhoven; Marian (Nicholas) Kavanaugh; Orville (Alma) Vanevenhoven; Raymond (Rita) Vanevenhoven; Ralph (Angeline) Vanevenhoven; Rosemary Vanevenhoven; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: James Hermes; Ella (Jake) Van Wychen; Tillie (Ervin) Welhouse; Minnie (Frank) Zwiers; Bill Van Asten; Florence (Frank) Weyers; George (Frances) Vissers; Harriet (Frank) Weyenberg; Evelyn Vissers; Donald Pennings.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2012, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 516 DePere St., Menasha, with Rev. Daniel Schuster officiating. Interment will be in a local cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Monday at the church until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Frances' name.

Frances' family wishes to thank St. Paul Home and staff for their wonderful care and compassion.
