Jackson Evenstad Obituary
Jackson O. Evenstad, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Valley VNA. He was born on July 12, 1918 in Virginia, MN, son of the late Harold and Mary Evenstad. He was a graduate of Menasha High School in 1936. Jackson proudly served our country in WWII in the European Theater of Operations with the Army in A Company 376th Regiment of the 94th Infantry Division, receiving four battle stars in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. His group received a Presidential Citation.
Jackson was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Vanda (Kresse) Evenstad, and one daughter, who died shortly after birth. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Kenneth and Harold. He is survived by his sons: John (Margaret), MN, Thomas (Marilyn), CA, James (Janet), MN; seven grandchildren: Philip Evenstad, MN, Mark Evenstad, MN, Timothy Evenstad, MN, Benjamin Evenstad, CA, Beth Evenstad-Ford, CA, Adam Evenstad, MN, Eric Evenstad, MN; and eight great-grandchildren.
No public services will be held. Jackson and Vanda will be laid to rest together in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Winchester in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in their names may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Neenah.

jackson and his wife were great neighbors and they had great sons that came to visit i lived across the hallway and vanda made me chocolated covered strawberries as a moving in gift

My husband and Jack worked togather at Peterson Press in the 1960's, in Appleton. When we moved to California, we always got Christmas cards from him and his wife. I was so sad to see both he and his wife are gone from this earth but abiding now in heaven. I picture Jack and Elmer setting type for the big picture book in the sky,as Elmer passed away 2 years ago. Doris Beier & family

i was also saddened to hear about jacks passing he was our friend at the alcan drive apartments we lived a few doors down from us we really liked jack and his wife vanda we will miss you dearly jack god speed

I was sadden to hear of Jacks passing. I delivered his mail to him at the Alcan Street apartments. He was such a delight to talk to. My prayers are with you in this time of sorrow.
