Kenneth Stokes Obituary

Kenneth O. Stokes

Neenah - Kenneth O. Stokes age 89 of Neenah ended his journey on this earth January 7, 2019 due to complications of Lymphoma. Ken was born May 4, 1929 in Kaukauna to the late Oscar and Sadie (Engle) Stokes. He was united in marriage on June 6, 1953 to Annelies Wiener. They were together 64 years. Ken was extremely proud of his service in the U.S. Marine Corps and could recite his rank and serial number to you as if it was yesterday. He excelled and loved accounting and had his own tax business for several years. He was an avid reader, belonging to many book clubs over the years, with which he built his beautiful collection. His love of carpentry is evident throughout the home he shared with Annelies for over 60 years. They traveled each summer for several years, seeing most of the United States together. And of course he was a HUGE Packer fan. He loved his Green Bay Packers and couldn't wait for football season.

Ken is survived by his sisters LaVonne Luckow and Marguerite (Wes) Bevers both of Appleton; brother Richard Stokes of Kaukauna; sister-in-law Barbara Glenzer of Essen, Germany; daughter Sue (Bill) Gloede of Oshkosh; grandson Justin (Mindy) Gloede of Neenah; niece Anstrud (Udo) Amann of Lingen, Germany; nephews Jim (Peggy) Bevers of Appleton; Tom (Sharon Auden) Bevers of DePere; and Benedikt Glenzer of Leesburg, VA; and a great-granddaughter, Meta Sue whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Sadie Stokes; his wife Annelies; his son Mark; his father and mother-in-law Wilhelm and Elizabeth Wiener; brothers-in-law Paul Glenzer and Leslie Luckow.

A memorial service for Ken will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday January 19, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church, 108 W. Doty Avenue, Neenah. Visitation will be held at the church from 2:00 pm until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.

The family would like to thank the wonderful, loving staff at Emerald Ridge who took such great care of Ken and made him feel like he was at home and also the caring staff from Heartland Hospice.

"Enjoy the heavenly peace you so deserve dad".

Sue, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. He was a great guy. He helped me out with many tax questions and was always so kind, so much like you. I hope all the great memories you have with your dad will help you find comfort. (((HUGS)))

Sue: I am very sorry to hear of the passing of your father. He was obviously a great man with much pride in his work, service and family. I am sure he was especially proud of the person you are. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Dan

Sue, sorry to hear about your dad. I remember sitting in his office many years as we went through the paperwork for taxes. I didn't know he was (always is) a Marine. To that, Keith says Semper Fi.

Semper Fi Marine! May you rest in peace.
