Kent Steven Johnson

Fort Atkinson - Kent Steven Johnson, age 69, of Fort Atkinson, WI surrounded by his family went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 29, 2018.

Kent was born October 30, 1948 in Appleton, WI to Archie and Maxine Johnson. Kent met his wife of 48 years, Cheryl Arthur-Johnson, in Madison. Kent was always an independent man. He owned his own tire business and enjoyed working as a truck driver because of the independence, flexibility, and time to think. He enjoyed reading philosophical and political books and engaging in lively debates. Kent always enjoyed sports and being active. He enjoyed playing football, basketball, tennis, swimming, and camping with his wife and his children. In 1984, Kent made "the best decision" of his life, to accept Jesus as his personal Savior, leaving a Godly legacy for his family. He was most recently found spending time with his grandchildren: swimming, playing, cuddling, and attending their activities. He and Cheryl enjoyed frequent trips to Naples, FL. His recent mode of exercise was swimming laps at the Whitewater Aquatic Center and the lake. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Maxine Johnson, and his little "brother in the Lord," Jimmy Weiske. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, his children, Tobias (Amy), Heidi (Shawn Pierce), and Gordon (Courtney), his grandchildren, Caleb, Chloe, Vivienne, Oliver, and Hazel, a brother, Richard (Maryanne), a sister, Barbara Johnson-Browne, and other relatives.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, September 7 at Crosspoint Church, 445 N. Warner Rd., Whitewater, WI. Visitation begins at 3:00 and the service begins at 4:00, with a reception to follow.

Memorials can be made to either American Center for Law and Justice or International Justice Mission.
