Lorraine Emmer Obituary

Lorraine Emmer

Brillion - Lorraine F. Emmer, age 85 of Brillion, was called home to our Lord and Savior on Friday, December 28, 2018 at her residence, surrounded by her family.

Lorraine was born on November 30, 1933 in Eagle, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Shirley and Vida (Cotten) Oborne. She was a graduate of East Troy High School, class of 1951. On June 14, 1952, Lorraine married Donald E. Emmer in Eagle, WI. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1995. When her children entered school age, Lorraine worked at Bob Reinke's Amoco Station. She then went on to work for the City of Brillion at the Library. Lorraine was a very giving person, demonstrating this through her volunteer efforts at the Brillion Nature Center, with the Friends of the Brillion Library as the Treasurer and assisting and serving as Secretary for the Food Pantry. She also volunteered for the cub scouts and the girl scouts. Cards were a favorite pastime of hers, and her card club friends were very special to her. Lorraine was also an active member of Holy Family Catholic Parish, serving in multiple roles: she was the first female usher, was a member of the Christian Mothers, and served anywhere she could. Lorraine loved her family, and always had time for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As she stated, "I have been blessed."

Lorraine is survived by her children and spouses; Daniel (Carol), William (Karen), Sharon (Brian) Eickert, David Emmer, and Denise Emmer; grandchildren: Derek, Jesse (Billie Jo), Deanna (Jeff) Collins, Jennifer (Mike) Poppe, Justin, Kristina, Zachary (Deanna), Ryan "Bubba" (Amanda) Eickert, Travis Eickert, Jake Eickert, Rachel (special friend Spencer) Eickert, Donald, and Danielle; great-grandchildren: Maya, Sienna, Isabella, Ellison, Rooke, Chance, Emily, Evelyn, Devin, Vivian, and Sylvia; other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; a son, Jon; a grandson, Nick; and a sister, Sharon Ann Oborne.

Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Tom Pomeroy. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Brillion.

Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Online condolences may be made.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Brillion Nature Center or the Food Pantry.

Donnie and Danielle, your Grandmother touched many hearts including mine. I will miss her precious smile and hug each time I would bring my students on a field trip to the nature center. May the sweet memories of your Grandma carry you through this saddened time. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Lorraine was probably one of the best people I've had in my life. I worked with her at the library, quite a few years ago. I really enjoyed working with her. I still have all the Christmas gifts she made us. She was one of the best parts of working at the library. She will be dearly missed.
