Stephen Baxter Obituary

Baxter, Stephen Jeffrey "Steve"

COLUMBUS/MENASHA--Stephen Jeffrey "Steve" Baxter, age 46, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Menasha on Wednesday, December 30, 2015. Steve was born at University Hospital in Madison on March 17, 1969 to Jeffrey and Betty (Sternitzky) Baxter. In 1975, at the age of six, he was diagnosed with lymphoma and underwent aggressive treatment. He won the battle with cancer, but all these years later lost the fight with the cardiac side effects of the treatment. Steve was a 1987 graduate of Columbus High School and a graduate of Black Hawk Technical College in the Airframe and Powerplant program. He had recently reached the 25th anniversary of his employment at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Appleton. He thoroughly enjoyed his job and the people he worked with. Steve was "Mr. Fix It", and always ready to help with anything that his parents needed to be done. He was an avid golfer and Packer fan and each year enjoyed deer hunting with his friends at Ob's Deer Hunting Camp at Cornucopia, WI. Steve was preceded in death by his father, nephew Devon Baxter, cousin Michael Boyum, grandparents Frederic and Irma Baxter and Herbert and Esther Sternitzky, and his beloved dog, Teddy. He is survived by his mother, brother David (Michelle), niece Emma, Nephew Mitchell, great nephew Mayson, aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as friends in the Columbus and Appleton areas. Steve was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Columbus. He had a strong relationship with his Lord and Savior and we know that he is in heaven with Him now. We miss you so very much, Steve. Thank you for all the great memories and we'll see you when we get there. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, Columbus. Rev. Robert V. Moberg will officiate. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Granton, WI. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society (lls.org).

Steve was a great friend. He attended my church with me several times. I always enjoyed sharing a drink and conversation with him. I am sure that Teddy was waiting for him and that they are now both with the Lord.

Steve was a wonderful part of the annual golf event that VMI (Fox Cities McDonald's) held for the Ronald McDonald House of Milwaukee. His donations to the cause will long be remembered. His family made a sizable donation a few years back at the loss of his father. Every year he asked that I hold a spot for him... Steve, I promise you this.... A spot will always be there for you... Rest in peace my pal...

I used to babysit for Steve when I was a teenager, and he was a baby/toddler. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.
