Deanne Meng Obituary

Deanne Yates Meng passed away on April 16, 2025, at the age of 79. She was born November 3, 1945, to Jerry and Roma Yates of Ririe, Idaho.

Deanne married Brent Meng and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on February 5, 1965. To their union they added four children: Paul, Peggy, Julie and Heather. Her family meant everything to her. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that any of us could have ever asked for.

Deanne was always young at heart. If anyone asked her how old she was, she'd reply, "I'm 29." She loved the youth and made friends easily with them because of her kind, caring, loving and spunky nature. We, as her biological children, can't count the number of "other siblings" she unofficially adopted into our family. She was known to them as Momma Meng or Grandma Neighbor. They would always be greeted with a "hello son/daughter" and a hug from her.

Deanne worked for Bonneville School District #93 in Idaho Falls for over 30 years. She started as a bus driver, moved up to Driver Trainer, then later to Transportation Supervisor, Purchasing Agent and finished her career as the Home Bound Student Coordinator. She loved ALL her bus kids and home bound kids and to this day they still love her and many have kept in close contact with her over the years.

Deanne's favorite past times were spent in her flower gardens (yes, there were many), baking and decorating cakes, teaching her granddaughters to make pies, sewing, golfing with her beloved friends and spending time with her family. Her most treasured years were spent in Arizona in the winters after she and Brent retired and spoiling the grandchildren the rest of the time.

Deanne is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Brent Meng, parents, Jerry and Roma Yates, in-laws, Otto and Denice Meng, sister, Zee Rae Hill, brother, Vic Yates and daughter-in-law, Lara Meng.

She is survived by her four children, Paul Meng of Idaho Falls, Peggy (Leroy) Ewing of Rigby, Idaho, Julie (Brandon) Moffat of Rexburg, Idaho, Heather Howell of Las Vegas, Nevada, 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Rd, Ammon, Idaho, on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday April 22, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Milo Church, 12127 N. 75th E., Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Services will be held at the Milo Church on April 22, 2025, at 11:00 am.
