Gregory Charles Larsen, 54, of Iona, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014.
Greg was born July 11, 1959, in Rigby, Idaho, to Vaun LeRoy Larsen and Lucretia Hokanson Larsen. He grew up in Iona and attended Bonneville High School, where he developed his love and skill for football and basketball.
Greg grew up working alongside his dad, eventually taking over their family business and mechanic shop, Larsen Repair. Having found a knack for business, he later built and managed Larsen RV Storage. If he wasn't in the shop working on your car, he might have been creating an amazing stock car, which he enjoyed racing as part of the team Car-toon Racing for several years. Eventually, he moved on to love driving his beautiful '78 Trans-Am, traveling Idaho's country roads in style.
Greg had four children, whom he loved very much: Melissa and Travis, from his first marriage to Gretchen Copeland; and Dustin and Jacy, from his second marriage to Julie Jackson. Greg lived his later years as a bachelor, but did so while doing the things he loved most, particularly four-wheeling, snowmobiling, tackling home improvement projects, traveling to new places, and any activity that involved his family.
One of the best parts of being around Greg was knowing you would get to smile and laugh; he was fun-loving, had a great sense of humor and took joy in even the smallest adventure. Whether it was playing in the backyard with his grandkids, sitting and visiting with two of his favorite people, his mom and dad, or an annual trip to Lagoon with his kids, he would make it fun, and loved getting to share those moments with others. Greg also loved his siblings a great deal, often reminiscing and recalling so much joy from this tight-knit group of six. We are so grateful for our son, dad, brother and papa. We will miss his big heart and endless hugs, and look forward to seeing him again.
Greg is survived by his son, Dustin (Stephanie) Larsen of Idaho Falls, and his grandchildren Branden and Kaylee; his daughters, Melissa Larsen of Portland, Ore., and Jacy (Rick) Pool of Twin Falls; his parents, Vaun and Lucretia Larsen of Iona; brother, Curtis (Bobbie) Larsen of Idaho Falls; sisters, Vaunda (Ray) Broadhead of Burley, Cindy (Bill) Morgan of Lincoln, Karla (Richard) Woodhouse of Federal Way, Wash., and Laurie (Scott) Jensen of West Jordan, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his son, Travis Gregory Larsen.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in Ammon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that each of you take the time to play and have fun in the outdoors with loved ones this summer, as this was one of Greg's favorite pastimes.

Greg was always kind and helpful to me and kept my car on the road for the last ten years. I have always respected his mom and dad and have enjoyed his generous care. I appreciate my friendship with his cousin Peggy who let me come to know and trust his car sense and skill. Dianne Baxter
