Daniel Lapitsky Obituary
Our beloved parents, Daniel Lapitsky and Marcia Sandra Lapitsky passed away peacefully after celebrating 66 years of marriage. Dan, 91, passed away on July 3, and Sandy, 83, followed on July 23, 2025.
Dan was born in Elizabeth, N.J. to Andrew and Julia Lapitsky. Sandy was born in Dover, Del. to Maurice and Gertrude Dutton. They met in Dover, Del. while Dan was serving in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
Dan worked at Decora in Fort Edward alongside his brother Leo, maintaining equipment. Sandy was dedicated to caring for others including family members and residents at Pleasant Valley Nursing Home.
Dan was a skilled mechanic and could often be found in his garage tinkering. Sandy enjoyed crafting, often with natural materials. They enjoyed family beach trips to the ocean and motorcycling touring.
Their dedication and love for each other inspired and taught their children to become independent and strong women.
They are survived by their children, Donna Lyon, Marsha Guntharp (Alfred), Michelle Schmidt (Kurt); grandchildren, Liz (Gary), Rob (Adaliz) and Brian (Danielle); and great grandchildren, Jace and Varity Sol. And, predeceased by Donna's husband, Bob. They are also survived by Dan's siblings, Leo, Margaret, Ruth, and Sonja and predeceased Walter; and, survived by Sandy's sister, Doris and predeceased sister, Betty.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828. A celebration of their life together will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at the funeral home.
Burial for both, including military honors for Dan will take place at 12 p.m. following the celebration of life at the funeral home at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, N.Y.
