Edward Fane Obituary

QUEENSBURY -- Edward F. Fane, 62, of Queensbury, passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was born March 2, 1942, in Schenectady, the son of the late Francis and Helen (O'Neil) Fane.

Ed graduated from Norwich University in Montpelier, Vt., in 1965 and Albany Law School in 1968.

He had been a practicing attorney for over 30 years and was a founding partner of Fane & Barber law firm.

His hobbies and interests included model trains, boats, gardening, traveling, Christmas and gift giving. He loved his dogs, Ginger and Barney, his horse, Max, and was a defender of animal rights.

He was very proud of his Irish heritage, a great friend to all who knew him, always ready to help without want of recognition.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Nancy M. Fane.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Susan P. Fane of Queensbury; three daughters: Michelle A. Fane-Cushing and her husband, Steve, of Burlington, Vt., Colleen M. Fane-Cushing of Burlington, Vt.; his close friends, John and Lil Mac Donald, Ed and Janet Arros, Tom and June Burke, Kay Crosse, Doc Hogan; and many other friends and neighbors to numerous to mention.

Steve and I were so sorry to hear about Ed. We wish we knew about it so we were able to go to the viewing time, however, we found out after his arrangements. Having lost a father myself at his ripe early age was terrible and he never got to enjoy a lot of things, especially retirement. It is never easy on the spouse and children no matter what the circumstances. A little piece of your soul leaves you and goes with him and you are never ever the same and you don't forget, but the good times and memories get better as the pain eases some. My father was a wonderful man/dad, and I'm glad I was so close to him and have so many memories. May the memories and good times you have all had comfort all of you in your time of sorrow. We will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers. Take care, Love Steve and Tracy
