Katherine J. Dowley, passed away on October 27, 2024, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., following a sudden illness. Born on May 25, 1939, in Corinth, N.Y., to Lawrence and Evelyn Brannon of Lake Luzerne. Kathy's boundless energy served many that knew her throughout her 85 years of life.

A native of Lake Luzerne, N.Y., Kathy was actively involved in school and community activities; music, yearbook, and government. She was a member and co-leader of a local 4-H club. A mastery of sewing earned her multiple county and state awards. Kathy loved sharing stories about working in the burgeoning dude ranch industry including at the Painted Pony and Hidden Valley ranches.

In her adult life, she modeled community service, pursuit of knowledge, and a love of travel. Kathy enthusiastically shared her skills in sewing, spinning, and weaving, through judging 4-H projects and spinning demonstrations at the Dutchess County Fair. For decades, she and her husband were dedicated leaders for the Boy Scouts. She also proved herself a savvy business woman, opening a small business importing spinning wheels for fellow crafters.

An adventurous soul, Kathy found joy in RV travel and country line dancing. She was often found tapping her feet to the rhythms of bluegrass music, a testament to her love for life's varied melodies.

Kathy's husband of 60 years, Peter, sadly predeceased her in July 2024. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Mason of New York; daughter, Kathleen (David) Titley of Pennsylvania; sons, Kevin (Raquel) Dowley of Indiana, Jeffrey Dowley of Staatsburg; two grandchildren, Matthew Dowley of California, and Rachel (Jason) Alexander of Massachusetts; and many loved nieces and nephews.
