Shirley J. Friday
Aug. 29, 1940 - July 14, 2024
QUEENSBURY - Shirley J. Friday, age 83, beloved wife, mother, Nana and Gramma Shirley, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 14, 2024 surrounded by family.
Born on August 29, 1940 in Binghamton, NY, Shirley was the daughter of Lewis, Sr. and Rose Kadleck of Johnson City, NY. Shirley graduated from Binghamton High School.
Bill and Shirley moved to Newburgh shortly after being married. Shirley worked at the System Development Corporation at Stewart Air Force Base, where she met lifelong friends and shook John F. Kennedy's hand at a campaign speech.
After relocating to Warren County, Shirley began her career as a Legal Secretary, quickly becoming highly sought after by local law firms. Her 24-year career with New York State Courts progressed from managing the Warren County Pistol Permit Bureau, and finally as the Chief Clerk of Surrogate Court of Warren County. Our local judges and attorneys admired her capability and professionalism. Accordingly, Shirley was very proud of her career as a Surrogate Court Clerk and continued attending OCA Conferences for years after retirement as a "clerk emeritus."
Shirley had so many interests over the years; it is hard to capture them all. She was a dedicated member of Zonta for years, and most recently the Women's Enrichment Group at Our Lady of the Annunciation. She volunteered at LARAC and Classy Crafts. Shirley loved bridge and played her final match last month. Shirley loved camping at Rogers Rock Campground with her family and friends each summer. Shirley also enjoyed golf with the Sunnyside Starlighters Golf League and was previously a bowler and skier. Shirley was an Usher at the Lake George Opera Festival and at the Lady of the Annunciation. Requests to be of service were rarely declined. Shirley made wonderful friends at the YMCA in water aerobics. Shirley also enjoyed the local Ladies' Martini Club.
At home, Shirley was a decorator extraordinaire. She decorated for every holiday and posted photos of her "holiday tree" online, which her friends looked forward to commenting on. Shirley had a green thumb and you will see some of her wonderful plants at the calling hours.
What Shirley is most remembered for is her gracious personality, generosity and thoughtfulness. She never missed a birthday or anniversary, and Hallmark's stock has dropped 20% since her passing. Shirley's door was always open, her kitchen table always a gathering spot. Shirley knew how to throw a great get-together, making everyone feel special and welcome. She loved to be around people, and people loved being around her. She had special relationships with her friends, her doctors, her clergy, and even the nurses who most recently cared for her at Glens Falls Hospital. Shirley was her kids' and grandkids' biggest fan. She delighted in traveling to and attending countless sporting events, dance recitals and concerts, no matter how cold the ice rink or hot the baseball field. The kids could always hear her cheers from the stands!
Shirley was our rock, a most beautiful and kind soul.
Besides her parents, Shirley is predeceased by her brother, Edward Kadleck, sister, Patty StClair, sister-in-law, Marlene Kadleck, niece, Kathy Tanzini and nephews: Bobby Kadleck and Dave StClair.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, of 63 years, Bill Friday of Queensbury, NY; sister, Barbara Allen of NC; brother, Lewis Kadleck, Jr. of Endicott, NY; daughter, Theresa Conderino (Mark) of Glastonbury, CT; son, Will Friday (Kamakshi Hart) of Topanga, CA; daughter, Erica Friday (John Burke) of Queensbury, NY; son, Christopher Friday (Barbarajean Goska) of Winooski, VT; granddaughter, Jessica "Honeygirl" Robertson (Andrew Ratto) of Queensbury, NY; grandson, Kyle McBride of Rocky Hill, CT; grandson, Shawn McBride of Glens Falls, NY; granddaughter, Sierra Friday of Topanga, CA; grandsons: Iggy and Duke Friday of Winooski, VT; great-grandsons: Miles and Jasper Robertson of Queensbury, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to and may call from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Regan Denny Stafford Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury, NY.

Shirley volunteered as an usher at Our Lady of the annunciation for many years , I hesitated to ask her too many favors as I knew she had a hard time saying no. Just a dedicated kind Christian woman . I will miss her greatly. Ken Smith

I´m Christine.
I worked with Shirley during her Physical Therapy days at 2 Country Club Road.
We had a lot of laughs and I am thankful how very much she appreciated me for assisting her in getting stronger and safer.
It was not only an honor to know her, but a privilege and blessing to work with her and be treated so very kindly by her.
I never saw her in the same clothing or jewlery. Always complimented her on both.
She was an amazing woman and I will miss her deeply!
My sympathies to you all, her beloved family. She spoke highly of you ALL, every chance she had.
As medical professionals were not supposed to get close with our patients or show emotion, but how could I not? She was a wonderful, funny and spontaneous woman.

Bill,
We lost Sue two weeks ago, so I have a deeper understanding of what you´re going through. I share your suffering. Shirley was a special lady. My prayers are with you and the family. I remember fondly our days with Len and Judy those many years ago, when we were young.
