Timothy Farry Obituary

Timothy Shawn Farry

March 17, 1968 - June 17, 2025

QUEENSBURY - Timothy Shawn Farry, 57, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at his home after a long and courageous fight with cancer.

Born March 17, 1968, in Buffalo, N.Y., he was the son of the late Dr. Gregory Lloyd and Patricia Ann (Penders) Farry.

Tim was a graduate of Glens Falls High School with the class of 1986 before furthering his education at SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Albany, where he earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Special Education and Teaching.

Tim began his teaching career at Albany High School in 1991 and taught Special Education. He was also the night school coordinator, reaching many students until his retirement in 2022. During summer breaks and vacations, Tim was a familiar face bartending in the Glens Falls region for over 30 years, most recently at the Glens Falls Country Club.

During college, Tim was a nationally ranked competitive swimmer. He earned a spot in the SUNY Geneseo Athletic Hall of Fame, was an All-American in the 100 Butterfly, SUNYAC Champion in the 100 and 200 Butterfly, and received the SUNYAC James Fullerton Award for career contributions. During his high school and college-swimming career, Tim held numerous school records in the Butterfly, Individual Medley and Medley Relay events.

In addition to his parents, his brother, Major Gregory Scott Farry, United States Marine Corps, predeceased him.

Survivors include his brother, Andrew Farry and his wife, Cathy Catalfamo, of Glens Falls; his nephews, Ollie Farry of Glens Falls and Daniel Farry of Pittsford, N.Y. He is also survived by several aunts, many cousins and friends too numerous to count.

Tim had an unforgettable sense of humor that made him the life of every gathering. His quick wit, vibrant personality and fierce loyalty to his friends will be missed by so many. To Tim, his friends were part of his family.

Family and friends may call from 3 to 5:30 p.m., on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury, with a funeral service to be held at 5:30 p.m., in the funeral home.

A Celebration of Tim's Life will be held immediately following the service at The Tavern, 340 Aviation Road, Queensbury.

Donations in Tim's memory may be made to High Peaks Hospice, (highpeakshospice.com) or Greater Adirondack Home Aides (greateradirondackhomeaides.org).
