David Wallach Obituary

Born November 8, 1938, passed away with his family by his side, Friday, May 6, 2011. He was 72 years old. Dave is survived by his children Daniel Wallach, Dennis Wallach, Dorothy Marble, and DeniseRushkin, twelve grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and loving friend, Sally Selbman. Dave is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Haffner, his father Louis Wallach, and son David Jr. Dave was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He served eight years in the U.S. Air Force. He then began a career as a private investigator in Marin County. He soon abandoned the life of an investigator for his true love, sales, by launching a chain of vacuum stores. In 1979, Dave started the American Trade Association. This barter business was successful and spanned over two decades. Dave was an innovator in the business of barter. Dave has been recognized internationally for contributions to furthering barter. He was the President of International Reciprocal Trade Association, IRTA, for many years. On March 2, 2011, Dave was awarded the position of President Emeritus of IRTA, a lifetime appointment. In his spare time, Dave loved fishing in Montana. He was a golfer, collector, and poker player. He truly loved life to the fullest. He touched the lives of many people. His family and many friends will dearly miss him. Private family services were held.
