Jonathan Powell Obituary

Philippians 1:3 “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.” Jonathan Patrick Powell, DMD, 59, of Pottstown, PA, passed away on October 28, 2021. Born in Mineola, New York, on March 11, 1962, Jonathan was the son of the late Terence “Terry” Andrew Powell and Maryelise Catherine (Paquette) Powell. Jon graduated from Northport High School in Northport, NY, in 1980, and while attending Farmingdale State College in Farmingdale, NY. , joined the United States Marine Corps in 1982. Jon then attended Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY, and joined the Army ROTC where he received his Bachelor’s of Biology degree and was commissioned in the US Army in 1986. Because of his strong interest in Biology and helping others, he went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he received a Doctor of Medicinae Dentariae degree in 1992. Dr. Powell then opened his practice, Clockworks Dental Associates, P.C., in Pottstown, PA, which he owned and operated for the last 20+ years. As a Captain, he retained his military status throughout life, and continued to provide as-needed dental services to servicemen. In his spare time, Jon enjoyed collecting and repairing clocks, creating stained glass artwork, electronics, building computers and riding his motorcycle. He has remained active in the professional community through his memberships with the Pennsylvania Academy of General Dentistry and the American Motorcycle Association. Dr. Powell will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is lovingly remembered by his son, Alexander Patrick Powell; his daughter, Devon Marie Powell; his sisters, Michele Anne Powell and Jeannine Noelle Powell; his stepdaughters, Morgan, Brandi, Samantha, and Angela; and many other friends and family. Visitation will take place on November 19, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Life Celebration will follow at 12:00 p.m. Military honors will take place outside after the service. Dearest Jon,
I have been looking for you for years and could never find you! Just yesterday I did another search, like I normally do, and found you in the obituary. How sad is that? Always thought that we can find each one day and hang out with our kids. Miss you terribly, your commander, 102nd Medical Battalion, B Company, NYARNG. You had the best wedding ever and I still have your sterling silver key ring from Tiffany´s. God bless you and your beautiful family. Major Angel Manuel Davila, retired, Inverness, Florida.

Dr Powell was a great man and a great dentist. He was the first dentist I had that I didn't mind going to! We would laugh and talk about motorcycles. You will be dearly missed. Ride free!!

I remember Jon from back in the mid 90s when he dated my sister. He actually fixed my grandmother clock because I kept scratching the face every time I wound it. I still have that clock. Rest in peace, Jon. Maybe you´ll run into Tricia in Heaven. My condolences to his family.
