We got to know Ed through my work relationship with his daughter-in-law Chris. While they were in high school, both our sons did gardening chores for Ed and Bernie, and then Ed after Bernie passed. Ed would feed them lunch and regale them with stories of his interesting and full life. Such was his gift that he could connect across generations. Sending warm thoughts to his family.

I had the pleasure of knowing Ed, for 40 years. We were both members of the same magic society. In all my interactions with him, he never once uttered an unkind statement, was always very positive, always had a cheerful smile and made you feel special in his company. He was a treasure and a true gentleman. He will be much missed...

I knew Ed since 1971. He was one of the founding members of the Poughkeepsie NY Magic Club in the 1930's (Society of American Magicians Al Baker Assembly #35). Ed was one of those few people that no one had a bad word to say about. He was the epitome of a Gentleman. He was a successful businessman and a fine Magician. He always had a smile, a greeting and a kind word. Every December Ed would bring their delicious Fitchett Egg Nog to our Holiday Magic Club meeting. Ed entrusted me to create a Facebook Page to display his (almost 100) pictures of our friend Walter Gibson's Home in Eddyville, NY. (Walter was the Creator and Author of The Shadow as well as being an renowned Author of books on Magic.) Ed was very generous. I once commented on a trick I had seen him perform years ago (blowing white silks through a cardboard tube and having them change to the color of various Lifesaver candies). Not long after I received a package in the mail containing that very trick. I will miss Ed's smile, stories and friendship.

Ed, it was an honor and a pleasure to have met you and become friends. Both you and Bernie were wonderful, inspiring, and giving people. For all of us that were fortunate to have you both in our lives, our lives are all the better for it. RIP and may you be back with Bernie.

Ed was one of the first and nicest men I met in the dairy industry. He was generous in his teachings of a complicated business. He was an excellent steward of Fitchett Brothers Dairy masterfully guiding it, along with Alson, during it's zenith. Ed will be remembered and missed. My condolences to son Gary and nephew Bill, who were lucky enough to work with Ed.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Fitchett family. One of my favorite memories of your dad was his collaboration in the productions of awesome Candlelight Services at First Baptist Church. He was a kind, caring man and his legacy will Cary on. Sending prayers of comfort and peace.
