John Spero Obituary
Poughkeepsie - John Spero, beloved husband of Cecilia Spero for 41 years and devoted father to Michael Spero, passed away on June 6th, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
John was born on June 4th, 1947 to the late Michael and Antoinette Spero in Long Island City, Queens NY. He was 66 years old.
John spent his early years in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, graduating from high school in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division stationed in Bien Hua Airbase, Vietnam as a radio communications "Morse Code" Operator. Upon returning from the service, he met the love of his life, and moved to Poughkeepsie, NY in 1971. He owned and operated the first Dunkin Donuts in Poughkeepsie on Main Street for 36 years. John retired in 2007, pursuing his lifelong love of books and sports.
John is also survived by brothers' Michael and Gary Spero of Ramsey, NJ, as well as three nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held July 13th at Ramsey Country Club; 105 Lakeside Drive, Ramsey, NJ from 2-5pm. Memorial donations can be made to Poughkeepsie Health Center, 17 Noxon Street Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

My thoughts & prayers go out to you & your family. Some of the happiest days of my youth were spent working at Dunkin Donuts. John was a good man & will be missed by many.

I am so sorry to read of John's passing Cecelia and Michael. Even though we lost touch, I still think of all of you often. You were great neighbors and you made the best Dunkin Donut and cup of coffee in Poughkeepsie. May you both be able to find healing in his absence. <3 Saying my prayers for you tonight.
