Josephine Novotny Obituary
Beacon - Josephine "Jo" C. Novotny, a lifelong Beacon resident, entered into rest at home on Saturday, November 12, 2016 with her family by her side. She was 78 years old.
Josephine was born on March 18, 1938 in Beacon the daughter of the late William and Mary McKenna Holland. Jo married Gerald G. Novotny in 1959. Mr. Novotny predeceased Jo in 1993. Jo retired after 30 years working in the Beacon City School District. Jo was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church, a member of the Tioronda Garden Club and in her younger years the Beacon Junior Social League. Most important of all Jo loved spending time with her family and friends.
Jo is survived by her children, Judy Novotny and her husband, Donald Rich of Chelsea, William Novotny of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Janet Ganzer and her husband, Troy of Washingtonville and Michael Novotny and his wife, Molly of Falls Church, VA; her grandchildren, Kyle Novotny, Nicholas Ganzer, Megan Ganzer, Maddie Novotny and Annie Novotny; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive their friends on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 16 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon. Burial will follow at St. Joachim Cemetery, Beacon.
Memorial donations in memory of Jo may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org/donate.

Dear Novetny Family, I am so sorry for your loss and to hear about the passing of my Aunt JoI got to meet her when my own mother (Pat Holland ) passed away and when I saw her she looked so much like my mom that I thought I was seeing a ghost!! Loosing a parent, that we are close with is so hard! Our Dad passed on May 1st this year and he was very fond of jo! God bless you all Sincerely, Darlene (Dingee) Jorgensen
