Mary Fennell Obituary

MaryLucille Fennell, 77 of Wingdale, NY passed away January 17, 2011, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Mary was born on May 27, 1933 in Conway, NC, to the late Robert Lee (Sonny Boy) and Helen Elizabeth Maggette-Porter. She married Lee Thomas Fennell and from this union had one daughter, Mary Louise.

The family moved to Wingdale, NY in 1957. Mary was employed by New York State Office of Mental Health in which she worked and retired after 35 years of service.

Deaconess Fennell was of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Stormville, NY and served faithfully on; Diaconate, Bible Study, choir, floral, missionary, golden agers & the women's ministries.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lee.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a daughter, Mary Louise Parker of Wingdale, NY, a grandson, Gaylord Anton (Tiffany) & family of Brandywine, MD, a great-grandson, Taji Zion of Poughkeepsie, NY; three sisters, Mamie Roger of Wingdale, NY, Virginia Barnes(Hubert) Washington, DC and Helen Porter of Capitol Heights, MD; two sisters-in-law, Clementine Fennell of Newport News, VA & Ruth Fennell of Roanoke, VA; a brother-in-law, Louis Fennell (Peggy) of Pawling, NY and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 from 11-1pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 10 South Green Haven Road, Stormville, NY 12582 223-3433. Funeral will be immediately afterward.

Burial will be at Menola Baptist Church Cemetery, in Menola, NC

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hodge and Carroll Funeral Home, Poughkeepsie.
