Michael Lanchester Obituary
Poughkeepsie - Michael Jonathan Lanchester died on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was born on March 5, 1956 to Bertha C. Lanchester and the late Forrest Lanchester. He was a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, New York and attended the Poughkeepsie public schools through Poughkeepsie High School.
Sometimes affectionately known as "Sugar Bear", "Rapp," "Uncle Michael" and "Poppy", Michael was a lover of people. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Forrest Lanchester, two sisters, Delores Thomas, Viola Green and his son, little Michael. He leaves to cherish his memory his lifelong companion, Juanita Thurston, daughters, Myanh M. Thurston and Kimoya L. Thurston; grandchildren, Ji'Asia (Sweetie) Peterson, E'quan J. Peterson, Dynasty N. Jackson; great-grandchildren, Desire E. Peterson, Laniya K. M. McCall and Hezron J. Francis; his mother, Bertha C. Lanchester, two brothers, Forrest A. Lanchester (spouse Margie Lanchester) of Bloomfield, New Jersey and Marshall Shamsiddeen (spouse, Sakina Shamsiddeen) of Poughkeepsie, NY; two sisters, Elizabeth O. Lanchester of Poughkeepsie, NY, Michelle Lanchester of Forestville, Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many wonderful friends.
Mr. Lanchester will lay in repose 10-11 a.m. Monday, August 18, at Beulah Baptist Church 92 Catharine Street, Poughkeepsie. Services 11 a.m. at the church.
Interment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie. Rev. Jesse V. Bottoms Jr., Officiating.
