Michael Sciarra

MILLBROOK - Michael "Mikey" E. Sciarra, 55, of Millbrook passed away suddenly early Sunday morning, December 14, 2014. Born in Sharon,CT. on September 2, 1959, he was the son of the late Ralph J. Sciarra, Jr. and Margaret Cunningham. Mike graduated from Millbrook High School in 1977 and began working at Millbrook School as a dishwasher and from 1980-1988 he was the head chef at Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, becoming the school's director of dining in 1988 until 1997. He purchased the Millbrook Deli in 1997 and owned it for 10 years. He then began working at Dervin O'Briens and continued to work there when it became Coach's. Most recently he has been working at The Iron Furnace in Verbank.

Mike was a devoted Giants and Yankees fan and his favorite show was The Simpsons. He enjoyed vacationing in Ocean City,Md.

Mike married his wife Denise Dennis 23 years ago at Innisfree Gardens in Millbrook. Mike was the loving husband of Denise Sciarra; the adored father of Monica Sciarra and Nichole Dennis; dear grandfather of Mason and Brooke Meilleur; and brother of Sue Ann Hurst and brother in law Matt Hurst. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews including Walter, Shelby and Dylan Hurst, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins including the Cunninghams.

Mike will be remembered for his kind and caring heart; always putting others before himself. He was a devoted family man talking great care of his wife and daughters. He loved his job as a chef and enjoyed cooking for everyone at the Iron Furnace. Mike's great sense of humor always had everyone around him laughing. He will be fondly remembered by his close friends and family at the Iron Furnace.

A Memorial Mass will be offered 10 am on Saturday, December 20 at St. Joseph's Church, Millbrook. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Allen Funeral Home, Millbrook. Contributions may be made to the Sciarra Family, P.O.Box 462, Millbrook,NY 12545.
