Peggy Stork Obituary

Peggy Stork

Red Hook - Peggy Stork, 74, of Red Hook, NY and formerly of Hyde Park, NY, Ridgewood, NY, and San Diego, CA, passed away on Saturday, March 27th, 2021.

Born on July 15, 1946, in Mt. Pleasant, TX, she was the daughter of the late Travis Edward and Marcella (Landrum) Dunn. Peggy married Ronald Stork on March 18, 1966 and he predeceased her on March 12, 2016.

Peggy attended Kearny High School (San Diego) and graduated from Dutchess Community College in 1983 with a degree in Nursing. Her career in healthcare spanned four decades, beginning with her work as an aide at Victory Lake Nursing Home in Hyde Park. After completing her degree, she went on to work as an RN at Kingston Hospital, St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, Riverfront Medical, as a private nurse specializing in elder care throughout the Northern Dutchess area and lastly, at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck.

Peggy was a member of the Clinton Alliance Church in Schultzville, NY and formerly a congregant of Pleasant Plains Presbyterian in Staatsburg. She also volunteered at Pine Plains Free Library and the Free Community Clothes Closet at Red Hook Community Center.

Peggy was a talented artist working in various media such as painting and collage. She loved travel, food and music and always sought out (and found) beauty in the world around her. She will be remembered for her friendly, caring nature and her love of animals and people.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren and extended family: Denise, David, Veronica, Jayne, JP, Conor, Keith, Ciara, Chloe, Ronin, Carol (sister), Carol (cousin), several nephews and nieces and innumerable friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Edward Dunn.

Lindsay told me in a phone call that Peggy had passed. I'm so sorry for your loss. There are so many happy memories of Peggy and Veronica. We were all living in the "new" development. Lindsay and Veronica would be visiting or playing and I would take a walk with Peggy. She worked while I was a stay at home mom and I thought that was awsome. As the kids grew up I saw less of Peggy but when I bumped into her we would catch up. She was always a caregiver for someome, a stranger through a job, for Ron, or for Veronica's kids. The photo used on her obituary is the way I remember her.
Veronica, I know your Mom was so proud of you working in your library and proud of her grandkids. Moving to Red Hook worked out well for her. We met at the Carey Institute at a lecture. She was happy.

I met Peggy at a group we both attended and soon realized my son and Peggy’s daughter Veronica were classmates and friends in school. Peggy was smart, interesting, helpful and kind. She loved her children and grandchildren and was happy to move to red hook to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. I enjoyed running into her and catching up. She had a ready smile and easy manner. Was sorry to learn of her passing. My sincere sympathy to her family and friends. RIP, Peggy.
