Robert Mirabelle Obituary

Robert P. Mirabelle

Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan - Chef Robert P. Mirabelle, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. Born in Mount Kisco, raised in Wappingers Falls, and resided the past 15 years in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan.

Son of Mary Ann Connors Mirabelle and the late Robert P. Mirabelle, he was born July 3, 1967. Robert Mirabelle went to Roy C. Ketcham High School; he was a formidable wrestler before graduating. As a freshman at Marist College, he was a starting walk-on offensive lineman. After graduating from Marist, Robert Mirabelle graduated from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America.

After over a decade of perseverance as an admired Sous-Chef, Chef Robert Mirabelle ascended to Executive Chef, during his 2yrs at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge; Chef Mirabelle was involved in Veteran's charities, chaired various culinary forums, was interviewed and highlighted in numerous culinary publications. Marriott International recognized his accomplishments recently nominating him as their Chef of the Year. Chef Robert Mirabelle's greatest achievement was raising his daughter Antonia "Toni" Mirabelle of Fishkill, teaching her not only the importance of athletics, but how to be a well-rounded, respectable and an in-touch individual. He was a huge family man who loved spending his free time at the beach. Whether he was playing a friendly game of catch or barbecuing for the whole family, he always had a smile on his face.

In addition to his mother, late father and daughter, Chef Robert Mirabelle is survived by his brother Jeff Mirabelle, his wife Tricia, their daughter Madelyn James Mirabelle ("MJ") and son Chase of Austin, TX; his sister Michele Mirabelle of South Carolina; his brother Michael Mirabelle and his wife Amaris of Florida; and his beloved uncles Gary and his wife, Raquel Mirabelle, Alan Mirabelle and his wife, Peggy Mirabelle. He will be missed by many.

Family will receive his friends and family on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 4 to 8pm, at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappinger Falls, NY 12590.

I had the pleasure of working with Rob at the Crowne Plaza Times Square. He was an outstanding chef and was well respected by his team and the managers throughout the hotel. He was also a funny, genuinely kind and good man. We worked several high stress events together and he always did it with grace and professionalism. He was a very important part of our team. He will certainly be missed. God Bless~ Katie Neufeld

My prayers are with Chef Rob's family. While my relationship was from the business end, it seems that in the Marriott world (I worked for Marriott back in the early 90"s)you are always family. I truly just enjoyed sometimes the exchange of emails (asking about certain suppliers, where to get certain items), but what struck me most was his passion. Not just for work, but family. I am sure Chef Rob is in Heaven, and looking to prepare a fantastic meal (with all local ingredients) for everyone as we speak. He is an amazing person, and truly a person that will be missed by everyone. My God keep you in at peace, and with him always. Respectfully, Brett
