Nicholas Weldon Obituary

Nicholas "Nick" Jon Weldon 25, formerly of Iowa City died Tues-day, Nov. 30th, 2010 in Quartzsite, AZ.
A Celebration of Nick's Life will be held Saturday, December 11 at 1 p.m. at Lensing Funeral Service, Iowa City, where visitation will Friday from 4 to 8pm. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Shelter House or the Wesley House Free Lunch Program.
Nick was born February 24, 1985 in Iowa City, the son of Timothy J. and Lea K. Fleener Weldon. He lived in West Branch and Iowa City prior to taking to the road. Nick travelled to 48 states and China. Hawaii and Alaska were on his bucket list.
Nick was a wanderer and free- spirit. He was a caring soul who entrusted the friendship of those he met on his journey. Part of the year Nick would spend on the east coast, and because of his dislike for winter Nick spent the rest of his time on the west coast. Nick could be stubborn, but as he experienced life he became very insightful and wise. Nick walked to a different drummer and cherished life, truly living one day at time. He will be missed, but will remain in our hearts and our memories forever.
Nick is survived by his parents Timothy and Lea of Iowa City; his sister Gabrielle (Brie) Weldon of Iowa City; his grandmother, Vivian Weldon of Parnell, Iowa; his nephew, Cody Kaplan; numerous aunts and uncles, Pat (Gary) Yauk, Peg Weldon, Jim (Sandy) Weldon, Dan (Sue)Weldon, Jeff (Sally) Weldon, Ron Weldon, Doug (Karen) Weldon, Tony (Shari) Weldon, Helen Weldon, Sharon Weldon, Sam (Rita) Fleener, Jane Vitko and Jack Shelburg; and special grandparents Gordon Hull and Rose Lipsius of Iowa City.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Sam and Wilma Fleener and James "Red" Weldon and his aunt Wilma Shelburg and his uncles John and Jim Fleener.
