Cassie Baker Obituary
of Binghamton: Cassie T. Baker age 94 passed away Monday morning March 28, 2011 at the Bridgewater Rehabilitation center after an extended illness. She is predeceased by her husband Stephen J. (2002) and also a son David and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen R. and Dorothy Baker of Florida, one daughter in law Joanne Baker of Johnson City, two grandsons and one great grand daughter, also many nieces, nephews and cousins. Cassie was a long time member of the S.S. Cyril and Method Church, it's Alter Rosary Society and Past President of the Women s Auxiliary Quilting Club. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 1254. She and her husband Stephen owned and operated Capital Food Market on Clinton Street for many years.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 9:00am from the Sedlock Funeral Home, Inc. 161 Clinton Street, Binghamton and 9:30 am St. Cyril's Church where a funeral liturgy will be offered for her. Burial will be in the Slovak Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Sedlock Funeral Home Inc. on Thursday evening from 4 to 7pm. The family asks that those wishing may make memorial contributions in Cassie's name to the American Cancer Society, 12 Beech St. Johnson City N.Y. 13790

Dear Joanne,
I'm sorry to hear about the death of your mother-in-law. She was very dear to you, and you treated her as you would your own mother. It's wonderful that she got to meet her great granddaughter. We will be unable to attend the viewing because we are away. Cassie was lucky to have you for a daughter-in-law. I know that you spent a great deal of time helping her as much as possible. Please give my condolences to Geoff and his wife.

I was fortunate to have my Aunt Cassie for my Godmother. She was the best aunt and Godmother that a girl could have. She brought much love and happiness into my life.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. Cassie was a former neighbor of my Mom, Anna Schiffer, and I had the pleasure of meeting her many times,and enjoying the breakfast crowd on Sundays at McDonalds and St Cyrils Hall.
