James Downs Obituary
James Douglas Downs went to be with our Lord on December 19, 2012. He passed peacefully at his home after a brief battle with heart disease. He is survived by his caretaker and loving wife of 54 years, Jean; his two children, Jeff and Stacey Downs; three grandchildren, Ashley, Blake and Taylor. Jim was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy and father James; his grandparents, Minnie and George Aton. George retired from the Binghamton Police Department after 20 years of services. Jim was a Binghamton Policeman for 7 years (1960-1967). He also worked at Links, G.E., Modern Design and retired from Atlantic Design after 28 years. He as a kind and simple man who loved his family and friends, sitting on the front porch, going fishing at Thousand Islands and cheering on his NY Giants.

I worked for Jim at Atlantic Design from early 1977 through 1979. It was my first real job, and Jim was a great guy to work with. I know it's been a good while now since he passed. I had wondered for some time about him (I've lived in Florida since 1979) and in looking around I found his obit. I just wanted to share my thoughts and express condolences to his family. I really liked Jim.

I wish we would have had the pleasure of meeting such a fine gentleman. Based on the outcome and relationship with your daughter, I have no doubt you were a man of principles, admirable character, great husband and awesome father.
Rest in peace and may God give your family the strength and courage they desperately need.
BTW: Isn't she awesome? Maybe she can show you what your daughter taught her. ; )
