John Fleming Obituary
Johnson City: 57, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday April 17, 2012 at Wilson Hospital after a long battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his mother Mattie Fleming; brother in law Prof. Terence K. Hopkins. He is survived by his loving wife Linda S. Fleming of Johnson City; son Tyree Fleming and his fiancée Erin Gage; daughters and sons in law Brandi and Salih Wakefield of Johnson City, Sabrina C. Fleming Jones and Marquis Jones of Johnson City; father John Fleming Sr.; sister Gloria N. Hopkins of Johnson City, grandchildren Tyree, Aaliyah, Uthman, Nuri, and Alyana. Special cousins Joseph, Jason and Jeffrey Reid of Baltimore, MD; mother in law and father in law Delores and Rich Miller of Orlando, Fl.; his sister in law Barbra Parker of Orlando, Fl. John thought highly of Timothy R. Faughnan and all of his wonderful colleagues. He formerly worked at CAE Link and for the last 16 years worked at BU with the State University Police where he was nicknamed "the Mayor" of BU. He loved sports, music, jazz, cooking and life. He played football for the Seton Hall Piratesand was an avid fan of the Vikings and Knicks. His home going service will be held on Monday April 23, 2012 at Noon at Cornerstone Community Church 911 E. Main Street Endicott. John requested that we celebrate his life by not waering all black. Burial will be in Vestal Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday April 22, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc. 428 Main Street Johnson City. The family request in lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association 155 Washington Ave. Suite 210 Albany, NY 12210

I miss you immensely. Today has been harder than the first yr. It was my first time I visited your grave. The blessing about that was the kids & 3 of our grandchildren were together. Then we went to dinner. John style.! We also went to your mothers grave. I hope you are having a ball in heaven. At least the thought of that gives me peace. Thank you for loving me. Dear Linda and family,
We don't know each other, but I knew John in high school, and as our 40th reunion is coming up, I thought to seek him out. And so I saw the very sad news of his passing. I've read many of the messages in this book and it's clear to me that the wonderful teenager I knew grew into an even more wonderful adult, so deeply loved by everyone whose life he touched. Long ago, he touched mine, and he has always been in my heart since then. My deepest sympathy in your loss, the loss I share now with you.

Linda and family, I was very sorry to hear of your loss. I have known John for over 20 years when I was a cashier at Great American on Riverside drive. I use to harass him about being a Vikings fan and he would harass me about me liking the Giants. I also worked with him at BU. His laughter will be greatly missed. Your son, father, brother, and husband was a a very kind and energetic man. I met him in 2011 during my classes at the DTC. He was always smiling and eager to help myself and other students out when we had questions or forgot our ID cards. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.
