Julia Major Obituary
Johnson City: Julia (Telatnik) Major, 96 years, entered into eternal rest on Thursday afternoon, September 12, 2013, at the James G. Johnston Nursing Home with her family at her side. She is predeceased by her husband, Stephen Major in 1985; her parents, Wasil and Julia (Butchko) Telatnik; her brother, John Telatnik; and sister, Mary Desko. "Judy" is survived by three daughters, Barbara Mann of Fort Mills, SC, Dorothy Major of Windsor, and Jean (Dennis) Hrehor of Vestal; ten grandchildren, Catherine (Jacob) Nielsen-Kolding, Christine (Ed) Gage, Dianne (Josh) Dunn, Robert (Kathy), Richard, Ronald (Terry), and Scott Patterson, and Stephen, Kristen and Jonathan Hrehor; twelve great-grandchildren, Sophie and Markus Nielsen-Kolding, Jessica, Thomas and Erik Gage, Robert, Christopher, Tara, Alyssa and Zoe Patterson and Noah and Griffen Dunn; a brother, Michael (Elizabeth) Telatnik; sister-in-law, Sarah Major; nieces and nephews. he was a member of Dormition of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church which was founded by her father. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always priding herself on her ethnic cooking, keeping her home and her appearance. She also worked a short time for Endicott-Johnson. Julia will be missed for her smile and strong will. Funeral services will be held Monday 10 a.m. at Dormition of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, 54 Baxter Street, Binghamton, with Very Rev. Protopresbyter James Dutko officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Rev. Dutko will conduct a prayer service 6 p.m. Sunday at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street, Binghamton where the family will receive friends Sunday 4-7 p.m. The family would like to thank the Unit Two Staff of James G. Johnston Nursing Home for their special care given to their mom during the past four years. Contributions may be made in Julia's memory to her church. To Julie's family,
We moved into the neighborhood at the same time. We raised our families at the same time. We grew together as friends at this same time. I have missed her next door and now I will miss her on this earth. My thoughts are with all of you.

Barb, Dorothy and Jean, Whenever I think of our neighborhood, I think of your mom, dad and you three as an important part of my growing up. The neighbors were a close, family type surrounding to live amongst and enjoy.
Your mom was great and will live on for a long time in my memories of JC.
