Binghamton: Mary Josephine Brigiotta, 83, of Binghamton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at The Hearth at Castle Gardens Keepsake Village in Vestal, NY. She was predeceased in life by and is now reunited in paradise with the family she so greatly missed: her parents, Sarina and Joseph Brigiotta; her brother, Anthony T. (Nino) Brigiotta; and her favorite aunt and uncle, Nella and Salvatore Calderaro. She is survived by her goddaughter and niece, Rose McNierney (Brian); her nieces Annette Brigiotta and Mary Clutz(Dan); her nephews Joseph Brigiotta(Rachael) and Anthony P. Brigiotta; her sister-in-law, Patricia Brigiotta; her great nieces and nephews, Emily and Evan McNierney, Alyssa and Benjamin Brigiotta, Alexandra and Jacob Clutz, and Giahnna and Elena Brigiotta; and special cousins, Josephine Sullivan (Tony) and Antonia LaSorte (Brad) and their families. After earning a BA from Harpur College (State University of New York) Mary went on to earn a Master's Degree in Library Science from Syracuse University and became a member of Beta Phi Mu International Library Science Honor Society. She worked for nearly five decades as a reference librarian for the Broome County Library in downtown Binghamton. Mary was a long-time resident of Arthur Street in Binghamton and a parishioner of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church. One of her greatest joys in life was shopping for gifts for her relatives, and she enjoyed taking many shopping trips to NYC. Mary also had a great love for animals. They, in turn, could sense her gentle nature and were instinctively drawn to her. The family would like to thank everyone who loved and cared for our sweet little dynamo of an aunt and made her last years so happy, especially Erin Duff and the loving caregivers at Keepsake Village. No words can express the gratitude I have in my heart for all of you. Who would've ever guessed Aunt Mary was such a great golfer, basketball and skeeball player? Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Just remember that I need you, that the best of me is gone. Please don't fail to stand beside me, Love me til my life is done."

A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church on Monday at 9:30AM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the McDevitt & McManus Funeral Home LLC 88-90 Front St Binghamton on Sunday from 1:00-3:00PM.
