Tim Moran Obituary

Tim Moran, 48 of Johnson City, devoted husband, amazing father and best friend passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning January 13th. He is survived by the love of his life, wife Lisa of 18 years; his beautiful children Gabrielle, Nick and Sean, all who meant the whole world to him; his parents Michael and Carol Moran; his best pal and "Little" brother Mikey, his wife Colleen and nephews Brayden and Maxwell. Also surviving are Godfather and uncle Jim Moran and special aunt Carol Moran, along with in-laws Jack and Dianne Wiktor, Johnny and Amy Wiktor, and nephew Devon; aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, many great friends, and Tyler. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents Carl and Phyllis Newman and paternal grandparents Matilda and Andrew Moran. Timmy (AKA Timber) was a member of St. James Church Johnson City, a retired JC Firefighter with 21 years of service, and the hard-working owner of Moran Construction, respected by his employees. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed coaching his sons in basketball, baseball and football and mentoring to the JC Youth. He was especially proud to be a part of the JC pee-wee Dolphins' undefeated championship football season of 2010. As for Gabrielle, she was "Daddy's Little Girl" from the moment she was born. She always said it was easy to talk with her father. Tim was in attendance at all her dance recitals, various sporting events, and father-daughter dances. In essence, Gabrielle had Tim "wrapped around her little finger". Tim had a big heart for giving - especially to children. He made time for everyone. Tim had a great rapport with those he encountered and saw the best in everyone. He was your friend for life and with his sparkling eyes, devilish smile, and infectious laugh, he proved to have a zest for life. As Gabrielle solemnly states: "Daddy was the rock of our life. He provided the foundation for our family on which to grow. We feel blessed to have had him in our lives and he will be remembered forever in our hearts." In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the "Moran Children Education Fund" attention Lisa Moran Visions FCU 24 McKinley Ave Endicott, NY 13760 or at any local Visions branch. Sincere appreciation is expressed to the Johnson City Fire Fighters, Ambulance Squad, Wilson Emergency Department and the many friends and family who have offered support with prayers, visits, kind words and food. Tim, we will miss you and love you forever. Funeral services will be held at the J. F. Rice Funeral Home Inc, 150 Main St. Johnson City, Wednesday at 10:30 AM and 11 AM at St. James Church where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-7 PM.

In times like these, it is so hard to come up with words that can comfort one's loss. Most of what can be said, has been said here already by all of the many people who were touched by Tim at some point. I came to know Tim only in the last few years, and I will always think back on how first impressions are usually the right ones. Tim was always quick with a smile, and to greet you like you were his best friend. He lived his life as I have tried: putting his family first and enjoying the moments with them. For that I admired him, and knew for myself that this was a great man. Although there may be trying times ahead, this family can always call upon their memories and lessons learned with Tim to get through any struggle they may face. My thoughts are with his family during this time. The greatest respect they, and we, can pay to Tim is try and live as he did.

Dear Moran family,

I am so incredibly sorry to hear of Tim's passing. I got the honor of meeting him during my years working at Thirsty's. Tim renovated our bathroom early in his career and since I had some experience in business, I shared my knowledge of some training tapes I posessed entitled "Secrets of Power Negotiating." He used them against me.

I was happy to design the original version of his logo.

He will be missed.

It's hard to come up with words that express how Tim made us feel. What a fun, crazy, curious character he was. One of a kind doesn't come close to describing Timber. He always left us wanting more of him, didn't he? I will miss him espescially during deer season at the "Brown Rd. Butcher Shop"
Rest in Peace.

Mike and family, I am so sorry to hear of Tim's passing. I did not know Tim well but I did play high school sports against him, and most recently my son had played against Tim's boys in the YMCA basketball leagues these past few years. During these games it was obvious to see how much Tim adored his children. I know nothing can be said to ease the pain you are suffering from right now. You can always tell how much a man/woman is loved and respected by the amount of people who show their supprt during their passing, and based on the enormous number of people who have showed their respect for Tim at his viewing and on this page you can tell he has made a major positve impact on many in this community. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

We send our deepest sympathy to Lisa, Gabrielle, Nick, Sean and the whole family. Tim was an amazing, generous, surprising guy. We are glad to have gotten to know him through the 4 years of the boys football and baseball seasons. The kids loved Coach Moran and could feel his pride and joy in them, especially the Dolphins 2010 Superbowl win. Coach Guardian Angel will now keep his sparkling eye and proud smile on his beloved family and all whom he has touched. Thank you for your generosity to your community and the JC community is here to help in every way we can. Rest in Peace Tim and our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Lisa, Gabrielle, Nick, Sean, Mike, Mr. and Mrs. Moran and the entire Moran family I am so sorry for your loss. Our prayers are with you. I wish I knew just the right thing to say, just the right thing to do to bring just an ounce of comfort to you all. I cannot, no one can. Only time and the wonderful experiences and memories each of you, each of us, shared with Tim will be able to do that. Even though as time passed since graduation day of 82, and our paths crossed less frequently, Tim always made me feel like we were the best of friends. I will always remember his warm smile, big hand shake and of course that infectious laugh. Tim had a way of making everyone around him feel welcome. Tim lives on in all of us and most importantly in all of you.

God Bless you all!

Lisa, kids, Mikey, Big Mike and Carol,

This is where I'm supposed to say something to ease your pain; but that would be impossible. Timmy touched so many people, in so many ways, that he will be missed by many, and they will share that pain. The only thing that I can say is that God has a plan. We may not always agree with that plan; but it is obvious that God needed him in heaven to fulfill a greater purpose. I'ld like to think he was needed as a guardian angel: to watch over us all, as he watched over you. Maybe God just needed a fishing buddy, and needed to learn how to rip 'em by the best. I know that Timmy was one of the best fishing and hunting buddies I ever had; but not just that. He was a great father, a loving husband, a good son, and a loyal brother. There was a side to him that not alot of people got to see, except his close friends and family. That was the gentle, caring side, that couldn't stand to see someone struggling or hurting. He helped me out many times. I would like to think I was in that circle known as true friends. We had so many good times and memories. When I think about them it just makes me smile. He was loved by all, and will be greatly missed. Just remember, when you're walking down the street, and you've got him on your mind; he'll be walking in your footsteps, watching over you, just a half a step behind. Sleep well my friend. You deserve it. Watch over us. You will be missed by us all.
