Bob and Candace Watson
January 10, 2008
I was principal of the Sebastopol elementary school Fitz's daughter's attended. Inside his gruff exterior and sometimes gruff demeanor was one great guy who cared and was compassionate. You had to get to know Fitz to love and appreciate him. As for his family, I specifically recall that he was always there for his girls.
As a sailor, I well appreciate Fitz's passion for sailing and why he was on the Tomales Bay that fateful winter afternoon. As I said to the wife, I'll bet if Fitz had choices that's the way he would have wanted it to be. I know that would have been my choice. And by golly Meara, you said the same thing in your father's obituary.
The thoughts and prayers of Candace and I go out to you Andy, Meara, Flyn and the rest of Fitz's family. We wish you the very best during this time of mourning.
Cherish the memories.
