Nathaniel Lombardi Obituary

Nathaniel Lombardi
October 22, 1975 - May 6, 2024
Nathanial Louis Lombardi – "Nate" passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on May 6, 2024 at his home in Cloverdale protected by his trusted companion "Virgil". Nate was born in Healdsburg and grew up in Windsor, sharing his childhood with his brother, Anthony. He graduated from Healdsburg High School in 1993 and shortly after joined the Army and proudly served his country where he was deployed to Bosnia - Herzegovina in support of Operation Joint Guard. Upon his return from the military he went to work for relatives at Domenichelli Masonry for 15 years before joining Ghilloti Construction in 2017.

The following comment was on his Military records, "PFC Lombardi gets the job done successfully during every mission. PFC Lombardi when assigned the toughest or dirtiest task gets it done to standard and without ever a complaint". This would be the same qualities shared by his co-workers at Domenichelli and Ghilotti.

Besides his love for the SF Giants and 49ers, Nate was an avid reader, a collector of movies and a music lover, especially the blues. He mostly enjoyed his quiet time at his small home in the vineyards of Cloverdale where he could be found on the banks of the Russian River playing with his beloved dog Virgil.

Nate leaves behind his father, Tom (Linda); mother, Deborah; brother, Tony (Callie); nieces, Millie and Avery; as well as numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

He was respected and loved by all that were lucky enough to have crossed his path. Friends and family are invited to join in the Celebration of his Life on Saturday June 1, 2024, between 12 to 4 p.m. at the Home of Tom and Linda 9751 Dawn Way in Windsor. Mortuary services were rendered by Windsor Healdsburg Mortuary & Crematory.

To Nate's family,

I'm so sorry to hear about Nate, he was a great friend to me. I first met him in August 1996 at Ft. Benning, GA for Army Basic Training. He was one of the first kids I met there and I remember his cheesey smile, how he wasn't freaking out like I was, and how laid back he was. After we made it through basic training, we ended up in the same company together in Germany. We were bummed that we didn't get to be in the same platoon but we still hung out, out rooms were right down the hall from eachothet, we partied with all the other guys in the barracks, went out to the crazy German nightclubs, deployed to Bosnia together, and did all the other crazy things that young Infantryman do the first time they're away from home and out on their own.

I was heartbroken when I heard that my friend had passed away. I wish I could make it to his Celebration of Life but, unfortunately I won't be able to. I dug out all the old pictures of Nate that I could find. I still go through all of these old photos from time to time and remember how young and wild we all used to be. Nate was amazing friend and I've never forgotten what it meant to have known such a great guy at such a pivotal time in my life.

Even though I ended up making a career out the Army, Nate and I would catch up every now and again through Facebook. Throughout the years he never seemed to change to me and was always that positive and upbeat guy that I remembered, just happy about life.

There's alot of old Charlie Company 2-2 Infantry guys that still stay in contact and I can tell you that we are all heartbroken that Nate is no longer with us. We all loved him and all have great memories of him. We are all truly lucky to have known Nate and he will be missed.

Thank you for providing this opportunity to be able to let you all know how much Nate meant me and the rest of his old Army buddies, my deepest condolences to your family's loss.

We love you, Nate.
