Paul Ciraulo Obituary

Paul Ciraulo
July 3, 1926 - June 5, 2024
Paul Leo Ciraulo passed away earlier this June, at his residence in Santa Rosa, CA. He was 97.
Paul was born and spent his early life in Elgin, Illinois. He attended St. Mary's Elementary School and Elgin High School. Holding true to his Chicago roots, he remained a die-hard Chicago sports fan. He loved the Cubs. He could rattle off any stat, player and position. He always enjoyed a leisurely day of watching baseball.
Directly after high school, Paul served for the US Navy from 1945 to 1946, during World War II, on the USS Frontier A25 where he would clean the propeller blades. Post-service, Paul returned home and graduated from the prestigious Elgin Watch College. He channeled his precision and patience into a lifelong career as a watchmaker. Paul moved his family from Illinois to Arizona and eventually settled in Sonoma County, where he raised his family and lived for over 60 years. Paul owned a jewelry store in Cloverdale, CA, Paul's Jewelry, before embarking on a career as an independent salesman for Landstrom's Jewelry, showcasing his expertise across the western region.
An avid golfer and member of the Santa Rosa Country Club, Paul enjoyed attending weekly dance events and more rounds of golf than he could count. Paul had the opportunity to play golf at world-renowned St. Andrew's Links, "The Home of Golf," where he shot an 83. Paul played golf into his very late years and could shoot his age well into his 90s. He never missed a Masters or US Open tournament on television. Paul also loved hosting card parties. His social gatherings were renowned for their warmth and camaraderie.
Paul was a devout Catholic and member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him through life's challenges. Later in life, Paul honed his jewelry craft by making rosaries and would pray The Rosary everyday.
Paul is survived by his son, Paul E. Ciraulo, daughters, Patricia Costner and Caren Lucio; sister, Marilyn Stahr; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; long-time love, Peggy Herbert; children, Nancy Imand and David Ciraulo; and grandson, Daniel Ciraulo, as well as his dear sisters, Eileen Newman, Leone Christ, and Doris Zeier.
A service to honor Paul's life will be held at St. Sebastian Catholic Church on July 3 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Sebastian. A private burial will be held in Chicago later this summer. Paul will be buried at his family's plot, next to his mother and father.
Paul's legacy of taking things apart and not putting them back together, asking to loosen a screw and then saying he's got the rest, and his amazingly sweet demeanor will leave an indelible mark on all who knew him.
"Between jewelry stores and golf courses, I had a great life." - Paul.

So sorry to hear of Paul's passing. He had been a part of our family for the past 20+ years. He and my mother were constant companions until her death in 2023. You could always find Paul and Peggy on the golf course, playing bridge with friends or traveling to their favorite golf course. He brought much happiness to Moms life. Condolences to his family and many friends. May he rest in peace.

I have such fond memories of Paul from growing up in Cloverdale and spending time with his family. I was welcomed into his home like a daughter. I still have the ring he made that my parents purchased from him for my 16th birthday. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Janet Domeniconi (Howell).

Lots of memories at grandpas house during Christmas, started with delicious food and ended with playing pool in the game room. Love and condolences to everyone in our family.

My uncle was a joy to be with in his visits to Scottsdale. I would always exchange friendly insults with him and suffer the consequences of his quick wit. I will miss my last remaining uncle.

I will miss you Grandpa. You always took great care of your family and you never complained. What an example you set for all of us. I hope you are golfing in heaven. Whenever I play I will always think of our times golfing together. Love you. Shauna

I barely visited him and I didn't have a chance to say goodbye to him... he said that he was proud of me too. Rest in Peace, Great Grandpa
