Philip Beiting Obituary

Philip Beiting
September 6, 1990 - January 13, 2021
Philip was born in Columbus, Ohio and moved to Sonoma County with his family in 1999. He attended St. Rose School, Cardinal Newman High School and Sonoma State University. He had a love for literature, and enjoyed playing music and writing poetry. He was deeply attached to his dogs. He chose his 11-year-old rescue, Otis, by spending an hour looking for the saddest dog in the shelter. He was compassionate towards those less fortunate than him, especially the homeless. He died after a long struggle with anxiety and the attendant self-medication. He is survived by his parents, Mark and Mary Beiting, siblings, Katherine Neff, Ellen Held, and Jack Beiting. A celebration of life memorial will be announced after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Donations in Philip's name can be made to: NAMI Sonoma County (namisonomacounty.org) or Catholic Charities of Santa Rosa (www.srcharities.org).

My heart is broken for your family. I always loved Phil's gentle nature and musical/artistic soul. He was a good human, and I wish that he could have stayed earth-side longer. Sending much love.

Mr. & Mrs. Beiting and Family,

I am so very sorry for your loss and I am so saddened by this news. Phil was always such a wonderful friend; full of laughter and fun. Some of my fondest memories of school include Phil. He had a way of making everything light and fun. I loved talking about music and books with him. Sending love and prayers to you and your family during this difficult time.

Mary and Mark, I see a picture on an elevator at work that has always reminded me of Philip. He is squatting down feeding ducks and I remember the playdates. I will always remember those days.
