Gilbert Cortez

GILBERT CORTEZ Age 46, passed away on March 25, 2013 in San Diego, CA. He was born in Santa Ana, CA and had lived in Eastvale, CA for 31 years. Gilbert was a K-9 handler for the California Correctional Peace Officers Association for 2 years and had worked for the department for a total of 23 years. He was a loving husband and caring father. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, hunting, softball, baseball, ping pong and loved to grill, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, playing poker on his cell phone and enjoyed family gatherings. Gilbert is survived by his wife Nohema Cortez; daughter Marisa L. Cortez; son Andres G. Cortez; parents Salud and Esperanza Cortez; sisters Irma Cortes, Martha Ruiz and Sandra Ruiz; brother Saul Cortez. He was preceded in death by his sister Ortensia Sandoval. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 from 12-4pm at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Mortuary. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 1pm at The Grove Community Church with burial to follow at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park.
