Steven Nichols Obituary

March 8, 1941 - January 17, 2022 Steve was born in Pasadena, California to Stillman and Betty Nichols followed by siblings Sandra (D), Susie, and Richard II (D). His family started in Hermosa Beach, moved to Vista and settled down in San Diego. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959. In 1961 Steve married Suzanne and together they started a family. Ricky, Ronnie, and Rod completed it. The family went from La Mesa to Barrett Junction and finally to San Diego. Steve and Sue had many different boats over the years and were members of the San Diego Venture Association. They enjoyed many family vacations and memories aboard those boats. They spent summers in Catalina as well as many coastal and bay raft up trips. Steve and his sons were members of the Beta Phi Sigma fraternity. Steve and Sue eventually moved on to motor homes and enjoyed many trips with family and friends to the Western states and parks in Mexico. Steve retired as an account executive with Pillsbury Corporation. Mom and dad retired to Hemet, California where they were members of the Elks and Moose Lodges. Steve leaves many friends and acquaintances in Hemet. Many thanks to his neighbor and dear friend Ray Croteau who helped our parents out regularly and remained helpful until the end. Steve was preceded in passing by parents Nick and Betty, sister Sandra, brother Richard II and many more family and dear friends. Steve is survived by Suzanne, his wife of 61 years; his 3 sons, Ricky (wife Andrea), Ronnie (wife Teri), and Rod; sister Susie (husband Michael); eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, many nieces, nephews, brother and sisters-in-law. Steve and Sue had just celebrated 61 years of marriage on Friday, January 14, 2022. Let's hoist a stinger to Steve Nichols! Funeral arrangements to be announced at a later date.

I worked at Price Club and Steve & I spent many hours on the phone every week working on orders. When things were particularly challenging as they often were, Steve would tell me that he was still in his pajamas even though it might be 3 in the afternoon! He had been too busy to change! . He made me laugh often! He was so good at his job and such a nice man. I moved away and we lost touch. For some reason he came to mind this evening and I looked for him online. I was so sad to see that he had passed away. Selfishly I am so sad that we can´t have one more conversation. He used to talk about Sue all the time. I loved seeing his photo...it brought back so many fond memories. I´m so sorry you have lost your husband & father. I bet you all have lots of precious memories. I will never forget him.

Sherri and I have not seen Steve or his family for many years due to the fact that we are in Utah---too far away. We were sad to hear of his passing. We both remember how much we enjoyed meeting Steve years ago and we love (d) Sandy, of course since she was married to my brother, Mike. We send our love and hope you all are feeling comfort at this difficult time. Take care. Jim (Sparky) and Sherri MacArthur
